Scott Vorthmann brought this project back to life after decades of dormancy. He designed the dynamic page translation mechanism, wrote the viewing code used here to display these models, added style sheets, and guided me in getting everything going again. Thank you Scott!.
Jacob Petersen converted my original data files to VRML 2.0
The references list the following specific sources and many other general sources which I have relied upon.
The algorithm and software for generating the uniform polyhedra originated in the Kaleido program of Zvi Har'El [1993]. I modified a port of the software to Mathematica made by Roman Maeder [1993] to make these VRML files. For the source code, see http://gauss.technion.ac.il:80/~rl/
The software I wrote for producing the 59 VRML stellations of the icosahedron is adapted from the work of Roman Maeder [1994]. For his source code, see http://www.mathconsult.ch/showroom/unipoly/index.html
The software for generating the stellations of the rhombic triacontahedron comes from Peter W. Messer, and is described in his article Stellations of the Rhombic Triacontahedron and Beyond.
The data for most of the Johnson polyhedra originated in a database constructed by Andrew Hume [1986], and publicly available at NetLib. I modified a number of the models to correct for various minor omissions and errors.
